Prince2 Training

PRINCE2 (Projects IN Controlled Environments) is the UK's de facto standard for project management. It offers a generic, best practice approach for managing all types of projects. PRINCE2 has been widely adopted and adapted by public and private sectors, and there is a rapidly growing international interest. The Registered PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification is internationally recognised.  It is derived from the earlier PRINCE technique, which was initially developed in 1989 by the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (CCTA) as a UK Government standard for information technology (IT) project management; however, it soon became regularly applied outside the purely IT environment. PRINCE2™ was released in 1996 - it is now the de facto methodology in the UK, and is the internationally recognised methodology for best practice in practical project management. PRINCE2™ is in widespread use throughout the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark, Australia, Japan, South Africa, and is rapidly growing in France, Germany, USA, Finland and Sweden. The number of people studying PRINCE2™ is doubling every year.

The most current revision was released in 2005 by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC), which has replaced the CCTA. The name "PRINCE2™ " is a Registered Trade Mark of the OGC

The Foundation is the first of the two PRINCE2™ Examinations you are required to pass to become a PRINCE2™ Practitioner, and is marked that day by the course tutor – delegates are given their marks that day.

This level is aiming to measure whether a candidate would be able to act as an informed member of a project management team using the PRINCE2™ method within a project environment supporting PRINCE2™

To this end they need to show they understand the principles and terminology of the method, specifically, candidates must be able to:
  • Describe the purpose and major content of all roles, the eight components, the eight processes and the sub-processes, and the techniques.

The Practitioner is the second of the two PRINCE2™ Examinations you are required to pass to become a PRINCE2™ Practitioner. Delegates MUST have first passed the Foundation examination prior to taking the Practitioner course. This level tests a delegate’s ability to APPLY the method to a given scenario. The Practitioner paper is a 3-hour, open book, formal examination consisting of three questions based around a given scenario. Each question is worth 50 marks and a score of 75 out of 150 is required to pass. This paper is sent to the APM Group for marking and can take between 8 – 12 weeks before the results are received.

This level is aiming to measure whether a candidate would be able to apply PRINCE2™ to the running and managing of a project within an environment supporting PRINCE2™ . To this end they need to exhibit the competence required for the Foundation qualification, and show that they can apply and tune PRINCE2™ to address the needs and problems of a specific project scenario, specifically, candidates must be able to:
