CompTIA i-Net+ Certification

This course is designed to help candidates prepare for the i-Net+ certification. i-Net+ is a certification sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).

CompTIA i-Net+ certification targets individuals interested in demonstrating the baseline of technical knowledge that would allow them to pursue a variety of Internet-related careers. The i-Net+ exam was specifically designed to certify entry-level Internet and e-commerce technical professionals responsible for participating in the maintenance of Internet, Intranet and Extranet infrastructure and services as well as the development of Web-related applications. .Certification not only helps individuals enter into the Internet industry, but also helps managers determine a prospective employee's knowledge and skill level. 

Audience

i-Net+ is a vendor-neutral, entry-level Internet certification program that tests baseline technical knowledge of Internet, Intranet and Extranet technologies, independent of specific Internet-related career roles. Learning objectives and domains examined include Internet basics, Internet clients, development, networking, security and business concepts.

This course will help candidates prepare for the CompTIA i-Net+ exam No. IK0-002.

Internet, Networking and Protocols

  • Identify the uses of internetworking components, functions performed at the OSI layers, and the functions of various connectivity devices.
  • Identify the core components of the Internet infrastructure.
  • Identify bandwidth technologies and Internet connectivity problems.
  • Identify DNS system and the procedure for applying for a domain name.
  • Identify the protocols in the TCP/IP suite, IP address classes, and subnet masks.
  • Identify the functions of various remote access and upper layer protocols.

Internet Servers and Clients

  • Identify the types of Internet servers, the concepts of Internet clients, and the infrastructure requirements for Internet clients.
  • Identify Legacy clients.
  • Identify the concepts of Cookies and Caching.

Internet Site Design and Development

  • Identify the development tools, such as programming languages and databases, used to develop Web applications, and access issues related to the Internet.
  • Create HTML pages for a Web site.
  • Test a Web site before it is launched on the Internet and transfer files to a Web server.
  • Identify the search engine to be used in a specified situation and register a Web site with a search engine.

Internet Security and Business Concepts

  • Identify the issues involved in data security on the Internet, access control, data encryption and authentication, auditing, viruses and suspicious activities, and establish a VPN.
  • Identify the E-commerce model used in a scenario, intellectual property laws, issues in copyrighting, global business issues, various E-Commerce terms and concepts, and the features of Web-related mechanisms, such as the push and pull technologies.
